Recollections

The palette is four values declared at the top of the stylesheet and very little else. #DED4C3, a warm oatmeal cream, is the background of every page and the fill of the torn edges between sections; #8B7758, a dusty tan brown, carries the nav wordmark and the 2px rule under "meet the graduates!"; black is the body text and the logo artwork; white is held back for form fields and work tiles. Shadows are brown rather than grey, #6e624b80 under every card and photograph. The only cool note in the system is a 33px periwinkle graph paper grid (#9295d2) behind the hero, dropped to 75% opacity and burned out to cream in the middle by two radial gradients. The only saturated colours anywhere are four 2px underlines in sage green, burnt orange, rust and apricot, under the four names in the footer credit.

One typeface does all the work: Bergen Sans, self-hosted in six weights and styles, set for headings, body, nav and footer alike, with page headers at 4.5em. Two display faces are loaded and then never applied by any rule, and one of them points at a path outside the build. The handwriting in the logo is not type at all. The wordmark is a 516x310 SVG of thirty paths with no live text, drawn in black for the show's own cream site and reversed to white here, locking "2023" upper left and "portfolio show" lower right in a light letterspaced geometric sans around a large connected script "recollections", whose two l ascenders shoot up out of the top of the mark as long diagonal strokes with a crossbar running off to the right. The rest is paper: a 3840x2160 photograph of creased grey paper fixed over the viewport in overlay blend mode on every page, torn edges that make sections stack like sheets, 14em ghost type reading "portfolio show 2023" rotated 7 degrees behind the logo in #cec3b1, and rounded corners on photographs that sit a few degrees off square.
